Just checked out @nikolamotor Twitter feed. Huge red flags imo. Nearly all posts plead with shareholders to vote to increase share count so they can raise more funding. The few tweets about actual products refer to “pilot” programs and shipments to dealers. Nothing about sales to actual customers.
I also noted that Nikola posted commmercials on reddit to get shareholders to vote.
I am not a shareholder, so this was a huge red flag for me as well. How can you justify spending your shareholders money in ads to convince them to vote?
Appears that all 48 tre’s were delivered “to dealers” so not actually sold. Question is, will there ever be real buyers? I suspect they are taking whatever steps necessary to keep up the appearance of a going concern until management stock options vest in June 2023. After that the company implodes.
I'm shocked by BMW committing to hydrogen and I'm wondering if GM shares the same commitment given their historical announcement with Nikola. I'd guess the deal is off but GM was supposedly giving Nikola tech to use so GM likely has some continued investment in the hydrogen field.
I'm interested to learn more about software plays by manufacturers. VW has made significant investment into software via Cariad but its not paying off at all. I wonder if the next big players such as Ford, GM, BMW and so on have over the air updates imminent.
Tesla is just crushing it on every possible front that an automaker could play in. With Chinese BEV makers slowly moving international, it won't be long before Apple and Google are bailing out an automaker.
